The Luke Bliss Memorial

3rd July 2018

As most of you will know on the 1st July 2018 (the Sunday just passed at the time of writing this) we held a memorial gathering for Luke ‘skywalker’ Bliss at the Drift Limits venue.

Being in the Toyota scene for over 15 years Luke had earned a reputation for his extensive knowledge about older Toyotas and all things MR2, helping customers and other enthusiasts in person or on the IMOC forum since 2004. The memorial was a great opportunity for members of the community to gather and not only reminisce but appreciate previous works completed at either Pacific Works or Drift Limits Performance.

The variety was quite spectacular as seen below.

At about 1pm Julian Bliss lead a number of parade laps around the Drift Limits circuit, a peaceful 10 minutes or so, keeping to a respectful steady speed. The circuit was at maximum capacity which was quite the sight having driven around the circuit many times myself, seeing that many cars all in single file, paying their respects, was quite moving.

It was great to see everybody having a look around (and getting inside when we weren’t looking haha) a small selection of the Drift Limits fleet which we felt were Luke’s pride and joy amongst the lot.

From the left: F1000 single seater (out of frame), Ariel Atom, Mclaren MP4 12C GT3, Ferrari F430 Challenge and Dodge Viper SRT

The Mclaren was our most recent addition to the fleet therefor Luke unfortunately was never able to see it in the flesh however, I’ve got my money put on that it would’ve been his favourite.

On behalf of the Bliss family and friends, the Drift Limits and Drift Limits Performance team I’d like to thank everybody who was able to make it and show your face. As I mentioned in our Instagram post, Luke’s customers were never just customers, but friends and on Sunday I think that really came to light with all the support shown. For those who weren’t able to make it, we hope to hold a similar event next year.

We hope to finish Luke’s own 2GR converted SW20 in the coming weeks/months but we’ll be sure to keep you in the loop, it’s gunna be “super cereal”.

Many thanks to Daniel Bridle for capturing the images of the day, more images below:

See you all soon,

Conor
